The Whisper That Became A Roar

It always starts with a whisper. A small, undeniable voice inside you that says, What if…? The voice grows stronger, weaving itself into your thoughts, dreams, and even your coffee breaks. But the moment you dare to say it out loud, the world responds—often not with encouragement, but with doubt.

That’s exactly what happened when I set my sights on landing a job at Gucci HQ in Italy. I remember the way people looked at me, some with skepticism, others with pity. Few of my teachers even laughed. “Do you know how competitive that is? Perhaps you can work in a warehouse and make your way up to that. People spend years trying to get into Gucci HQ!”

Maybe they were right. I didn’t have decades of experience and I wasn’t fluent in Italian. But none of that silenced the whisper inside me. If anything, the doubt made it louder.

THE IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

I was sitting at my desk one afternoon, staring at a blank application form, when I decided to stop waiting for the perfect moment. With my non-existent Italian, I hit submit. 37 applications, after meeting a few people who worked at the brand and 6 months later, I found myself in Florence, working on the Women Shoes Sales Campaign. Somehow, I got here.

But it wasn’t just about Gucci. That was only one of many examples... .

THE 14 DAY MIRACLE

I faced a new challenge: hosting a fashion event featuring the President of Michael Kors in Canada’s largest luxury department store. The catch? I had no budget, a promise of 100 minimum people in attendance and just 14 days to pull it off. The whispers came again, but this time, they weren’t alone. There was a chorus of doubt from those around me:

“This is unrealistic.”

“You’re setting yourself up for failure.”

“Maybe just keep it simple.”

I could have played it safe. Instead, I doubled down. I worked through the nights, leveraged every connection, and left no stone unturned. The event happened with over 120 attendees that I promised—and it wasn’t just a success. It was spectacular.

MY GOLDEN TICKET TO NYC

Then came the three-day race against time: landing a job in NYC and securing a visa. I won’t lie—this was one of the most stressful challenges I’ve faced. I reached out to 10 lawyers and I heard, “That’s impossible. It takes months.” before landing on the one who committed to supporting me in achieving my goal.

But here’s the thing: when the whispers are loud enough, they drown out the noise. I focused on what I could do, not what others said I couldn’t. Three days later, I was walking the streets of Manhattan, proof that impossibilities are just temporary obstacles.

WHY I KEEP LISTENING TO THE WHISPER

Through it all, I’ve learned that the whisper isn’t just a thought or an idea. It’s your potential calling to you, daring you to chase it. It doesn’t care if the world says no because it knows the truth: the world isn’t ready for your dream until you make it real.

When everyone tells you not to do something, it’s rarely about you. It’s about their fear, their limits, their inability to see the possibilities.

YOUR STORY BEGINS HERE

So, here’s my question for you: What’s your whisper saying? Is it calling you to start that business, write that book, or take that trip? Whatever it is, I hope you listen. Not because it’s easy, but because it’s worth it.

Remember, the whisper might start small, but when you trust it, it grows into a roar that drowns out every doubt. And that roar? That’s the sound of your dreams becoming reality.

So, tell me—what impossible thing will you do next?

When Everyone Tells You "Don’t Do It"—That's Your Sign to Go All In

Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx, captures this perfectly in her Masterclass. She shared how no one initially wanted to manufacture her "strange" product— Spanx was unlike anything the market had seen. But her vision wasn’t deterred. Instead, she leaned into the resistance, knowing it was the natural reaction to doing something completely new.
